Meet Joel Pera

Golf has been a part of my life for more than 30 years.

Over those three decades, I've had the privilege of teaching golfers of every ability, building clubs for players at the highest levels of the game, and continually studying the relationship between swing mechanics and equipment performance.

My background in engineering from Purdue University taught me to solve problems by understanding how every component works together. That same mindset shapes the way I coach, fit, and build clubs today.

Rather than chasing trends or teaching a single "perfect" swing, I focus on understanding each golfer as an individual. Every recommendation I make is based on how you naturally move, how your equipment performs, and what will help you play your best golf.

Whether we're adjusting a golf swing, rebuilding a putter, or fitting an entirely new set of clubs, the process always starts the same way:

• Developing the specialized Black QPQ process for golf clubs that has since been adopted by multiple golf manufacturers for their own lines of black-finished clubs

• Co-designing the Sub 70 Zero Torque putter line to bring high-performance putter technology to more golfers

• Becoming one of the world's largest manufacturers of aftermarket launch monitor alignment dots, supplying collegiate golf programs, teaching professionals, club fitters, retailers, golf simulator companies, and tour players around the world

Why "Just a Potamus?"

The name behind our company is more than a logo.

It's our family.

Our son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at an early age, and throughout his life his nickname has simply been "Potamus."

When it came time to build this business, there was never another name to consider.

Through him, we've experienced firsthand how powerful golf can be. It teaches patience, builds confidence, develops problem-solving skills, and creates meaningful connections that extend far beyond the golf course.

That experience continues to shape our mission today.

We believe golf should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, or experience. Whether it's retrofitting clubs for children, ensuring golfers are playing equipment that truly fits them, or creating an environment where every player feels welcome, we're committed to helping more people experience everything this game has to offer.

Just a Potamus Golf isn't just named after our son.

It's inspired by what he continues to teach us every day.
